Kokan United launched its activities by organising a "Kokan Family Day" on the 15th May 2009 at the Salmiya Municipality Grounds. There was a tremendous turnout for the event by Kokanis who poured in from all walks of life and it turned out to be a truly fun-filled family get-together. The event started with the finals of a Cricket tournament, included a Soap Football tournament and a variety of family games.

The Kokani ladies conducted a variety of games like 'Bomb the City' and 'Hitting the Stumps' for the ladies and a drawing/colouring competition for the children. The mens games included 'Shooting the goal' but the highlight of the evening was a tug of war competition between the different Kokan districts, which got a roaring support from the enthusiastic crowd cheering on their respective district mates.

The event concluded with a prize distribution for the winners of the various events. Further to the successful outcome of this venture, Kokan United hopes to continue this effort in organizing more events in the immediate future, which will benefit the interests of Kokanis in Kuwait.
